Turn it Up Tuesday: What happens when…

For once there is no song stuck in my head. Which is weird for me.

So today at lunch, while enjoying the wonderful snow in Alabama. (yup you heard me right.,a beautiful light dusting) I asked two of my friends what songs they have had stuck in their heads lately. The answers were not what I expected, so of course that means I needed to share them with the wonderful world of the internet.

It is the random things like this that remind me of why we are friends.

It also reminds me to always think a head of time with posts or I’ll end up with ¬†things like this ūüôā

Style me Savvy: Mixed Metals

Most people who know me and my style know two things, I love silver and I’m addicted to Alex and Ani bracelets. This Christmas my baby (by baby I mean she is like 9.. whatever) cousin got me two new Alex and Ani’s to add to my collection. To ¬†my surprise she got me one in gold ¬†and also a colorful beaded bracelet. I have never been one to mix metals so I was a little worried about how everything was going to mix together.

To my surprise, I loved the way it all looked when put together!

The new additions to my growing collection!

The new additions to my growing collection! This has opened up a whole new level to my obsession.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you lovely readers.¬†

No matter if you are single or in a relationship, Valentine’s Day should be about showing love to those around you and not so much about expensive gifts and dinners.

A few great ways to show some love to those around you today (and hell everyday):

  • Buy a coffee for the person behind you in line
  • Leave a nice anonymous note on a co-workers desk ( I can promise you it will make their day a little better)
  • Make a meal for a friend (or partner, or even a family member)
  • Smile more at strangers. It sounds weird but it is amazing how a smile or a wave can brighten someone else’s day
  • Volunteer this weekend! What is a better way to spread some love than to take some time to help out those in need.

Don’t have a “traditional” date for tonight? Who cares. It’s Friday, grab you girls or your guys and make your own celebration.

And just remember, Tomorrow is the start of discounted candy. And really who doesn’t love cheap candy. Personally I cannot wait to get my hands on those delicious gummy cinnamon hearts.

Turn it Up Tuesday: High school Flashback

Yesterday was pretty much the perfect  lazy day I have had in a long time. The weather was beautiful (62 in January YES PLEASE), I have a good book currently being read and of course a great soundtrack to as background noise while soaking in the day.

Unfortunately thanks to the (bi)polar vortex, the weather here in Alabama is back into the 30’s and I have been teased with a taste of spring.

In order to keep myself from slipping into an “I want spring now” rage, I have the soundtrack to my summer days playing while sitting in my windowless office.

During the warm weather days in high school, my favorite thing to do was drive around with a friend with the windows down and BLARE Jon Fredrick Band (or DJI… . pretty much which ever band he was in at the moment! )

Of course now any time I hear any of those songs it brings me back to those warm spring days when I could just kick back, be lazy, and my biggest worry in life was if I was going to pass Algebra or not.

::Sigh:: That voice can still make me swoon like a little high school girl.

Turn it up Tuesday: Say Something

Sometimes I hear a song and become obsessed with it…(and by sometimes I really mean.. almost all the time)- Which sprung my idea of letting all you lovelies in on what is stuck in my head at the moment.

Ever since the Victoria Secret Fashion Show I have not been able to get “Say Something” by A Great Big World ¬†out of my head. It isn’t the happiest of song out there. Yet there is just something about the mix of his voice and the melody that makes me feel so calm every time I hear it… And of course Christina Aguilera sounds FLAWLESS … As usual.
