I love holiday weekends.
Especially ones that make you feel like you have done so much in a three and a half day time frame.
This Memorial Day weekend involved some of my all time favorite things, such as:
- Spending Friday night at the Fair, while being a huge nerd on a carousel and eating red velvet funnel cake
- Getting to spend a Saturday morning lounging by the pool with a good book and your awesome roommate, and then dancing the night away one last time with your friends before they leave to start their next adventure.
- Taking crazy photos with friends, while watching hot air balloons and fireworks.
- And of course, no Memorial Day weekend would be complete without a cookout!
Seriously… do I have to be back in the office now?!
Who doesn’t love a three-day weekend?!
Especially one where you are pretty much expected to stay outside, have cook outs and drink beers with friends.
And of course look cute while doing it!
So in honor of Memorial Day weekend I have put together some of my favorite cookout/pool party/beach trip attire.
Every now and then I feel like I just cannot take another day of sitting in my windowless office.
This urge has gotten stronger now that the weather has gotten much nicer.
Lucky for me (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) I worked a bunch of extra hours last week and I am not allowed overtime.(#nonprofitlife) BUT I was able to do the next best thing, which is fixing my schedule so I don’t go over my hours.
So I decided to take a day off, randomly, in the start of the week.
Many people are probably thinking “why didn’t you take a Friday off” or “Man it sucks you just can’t get paid extra”. But to be honest, I really like having the opportunity to just take a day off when I have the hours. And yes a Friday off is nice. But personally I never end up doing anything on that Friday off besides preparing to go out later that night.
So this week, I took off Tuesday, grabbed a friend (who also had the day off), packed a bag and spent the day hiking and enjoying the weather. Best choice I have made in a while.
Apparently this is my “OMG I’M SO EXCITED TO BE IN NATURE” face.
I don’t photograph well..
I would like to just live here..
Downside: You will feel SORE the next day while sitting at your desk. All while wishing you were back outside
Every few months there is at least one song on the radio that I cannot wait for its death.
Right now that song for me is “Happy” by Pharrell.
I don’t know what it is about this song, but I can’t stand it.
It in no way makes me happy (it actually just induces rage. Seriously it is a terrible song, why is it played EVERYWHERE?!)
Yet, I feel like the loner on this hatred.
But I really hope what ever Pharrell comes up with next is way better than this.
Who are these kids?
Where did they come from?
This video doesn’t make sense
Why does this sound like something from 2002?
Why am I still listening to this?
Is it wrong to think the lead singer is cute? ***
How do I already know all the words?
Crap.. I’m hooked.
***The answer- yes it is wrong..
The annual gala at the MET has been a dream of mine for years.
But with a 25,000 dollar price tag, it may continue to always be just that… a dream.
Of course this isn’t going to stop me from lusting over the dresses each year.
My Top Four: Best Dresses Met Gala 2014
This years “I’m not sure what is going on here, but I like it” award goes to Kirsten Dunce
Many bloggers have been hating on this dress, but how can you hate it.. THERE IS THE DEATH STAR ON IT! So thank you Kirsten for bring art, fashion and inner nerdom to the Gala this year.
